We keep getting enquiries: I want to experience Dance of Awareness... Are you running a regular class? When is your next training? So here we are. We're back. It's time to resume our regular evening DoA classes, celebrating 20 years of running Waves in Brighton. Once a month (or so) on Friday evenings. Get your weekend off to a flying (...well uplifting) start!
After a warm-up, we will have an opening circle, followed by a Wave as we go through the DoA cycle of sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing, and finally a closing circle which is an opportunity to share if you are moved to do so.
We begin in sensing, a space to surrender to your being - simply being with yourself and experiencing yourself directly. Then, in grounding we allow the ground and the breath to support us, and we become aware of our physicality, the form that we take. From our ground, we can come to know ourselves, to feel our feelings - this is expressing, and we can choose whether and how to express ourselves. As we meet our limitations and holding, it's time for releasing - just as much as feels OK for you. And then the freedom of connecting that comes with that. To connect in all that I am - both outwards to others, and inwards to our true nature.
There will be some structure, introducing some of the key themes underlying DoA, but largely this is an opportunity to let the music take you through the experience of exploring your early embodiment through dance, movement and awareness.
Whether you want to experience DoA for the first time, or whether you have trained or danced with us over the years and want to deepen your experience, renew your sense of connection or just get back on the dancefloor - come along! Plus, we now have tentative plans for another DoA training (October 2024), so what better way of staying in the groove.
This class is open to all adult movers, regardless of previous movement experience. If you have any questions, email us, or if you want to discuss anything by phone, please email Clare to arrange a time to call. Otherwise - see you there!
